OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jimmy Seewald, Valparaiso
Freshman | Quarterback Livonia, Michigan Making his first collegiate start, Seewald tied a Valparaiso record with five touchdown throws in a 49-24 victory against NAIA foe Trinity International, Saturday. He opened the game with a 61-yard touchdown toss on the first play from scrimmage. It was the first completion in a day that saw Seewald complete 22-of-29 passes for 345 yards. On the Crusaders third touchdown drive, he completed all four of his pass attempts, amassing 62 yards on the five-play drive. Seewald’s final pass completion salted the game away with a 14-yard touchdown pass. He is one of seven FCS quarterbacks to throw five touchdowns in a game this season and the first in the PFL.

Freshman | Linebacker Covington, Georgia Collins had three tackles for loss in Davidson’s 38-12 victory against Division II Livingstone, Saturday. He finished the day with seven tackles (four solo), a quarterback sack and a fumble recovery to help Davidson’s defense post a shutout through nearly 45 minutes. Collins’ lone sack helped extend that scoreless start, pushing Livingstone out of field goal range early in the third quarter and ultimately leading to a turnover on downs.

Sophomore | Punter Avondale, Pennsylvania Smith averaged 50 yards on six punts in Dayton’s 34-20 loss at FCS foe Duquesne, Saturday. He had four punts of 50-plus yards on the day, including a 61-yard bomb on his fifth punt, late in the third quarter. Three of Smith’s punts ended inside the Dukes 20-yard line. Dayton netted 49.5 yards on his six punts as Duquesne attempted just two returns that totaled three yards.
